Homemade body scrub – fades age spots on hands, too!

I heard that a lemon and sugar scrub helps fade age spots on your hands.  I believe it will not remove age spots permanently, but it will fade them.  I researched several different recipes and have come up with my own, all natural, body scrub recipe.  It is easy to make and very inexpensive.  Try it and let me know how it works for you.

Ingredients

1/2 cup sea salt or 1/2 cup of your favorite sugar
1 tablespoon of your favorite natural moisturizer, lotion or extra virgin olive oil (I like tea tree oil lotions)

Oil of 3 Vitamin E capsules
2 tablespoons lemon juice (see below if you are allergic to citrus)

For those allergic to citrus you may use 1 opened capsule of Vitamin C that does not contain citrus such as Allergy C Caps and 1 tablespoon honey, though without the lemon juice you will not achieve fading of age spots.  For those not concerned with age spots you can use a capsule of regular vitamin C and honey if you do not have lemon on hand.

If using olive oil please ensure that it is extra virgin olive oil.  Extra virgin olive oil is the oil which comes from the first pressing of the olives and contains the most antioxidants.

 Instructions

  1. Mix all of the above ingredients in a container.
  2. Wet skin.
  3. Apply to skin and scrub with hands (scrub feet longer)
  4. Rinse off with warm water.
  5. Pat dry.
  6. Apply additional moisturizer or lotion.

If you wish to apply in the shower, turn the shower nozzle away from my body or turn the water off and apply; and then rinse off.

This can be done as needed.  You may want to consider using it on your feet more often than your entire body.  I would not apply it to the entire body more than once a week.

I would assume that age spots on hands fade more easily, as well as facial age spots, because they exposed to the sun more.  Lemon applied to just about anything when exposed to the sun will fade.

NOTE: Not advised for sensitive skin, soars or open cuts.  Though, if you are only sensitive to certain chemicals, this may just be the right thing for you.  Know your body and use common sense.
