Hemp: a Substitute for Soy and Whey

I have been looking for a substitute for soy protein and whey protein and found it, hemp!  I am referring to the industrial hemp, not marijuana.  Hemp nutritional facts are amazing: Omega 3, Omega 6, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, phosphorus and does not affect the digestive tract.  It is very easily digested.  It contains protein, essential amino acids and essential fatty acids.  These are things our bodies need!

Hemp is not marijuana

Industrial hemp is non-psychoactive, unlike hemp that refers to marijuana.  Industrial hemp is good for you!

Per Vitacost.com, hemp protein powder is not an isolate (ingredient extracted from a food by processing), but a whole food.  They carry a 16 oz. container of hemp protein powder with added fiber for only $7.98.  That sure beats the higher priced protein powders on the market today.  Their shipping is only $4.99, no matter how much you order.  That’s just incredible, because I ordered some very heavy items.

I highly recommend watching this video by Ani Phyo from Ani’s Kitchen on the Virtual Channel Network.  She shows you how to make a great protein shake using protein powder, hemp nuts and more.  She says that hemp is loaded with essential amino acids and essential fatty acids and that consuming hemp helps protect your skin from the sun.  Once consumed, it makes a natural sunblock.  In addition, she gives some other great natural hints.  Check it out!

After I watch the video I search Ani Phyo on YouTube.  She has several videos.  They are wonderful!  She shares one of her dessert recipes, Raspberry Ganache Cake, which is actually a raw cake (no baking necessary).  It includes organic walnuts, organic Medjool Dates, cacao powder and sea salt.  The filling is fresh raspberries.   The frosting contains avocados, dates, cacao powder and agave syrup.  Yum!  This video is a clip from her appearance on “View from the Bay”.  One of the hosts loved it!  I immediately got online and ordered Medjool dates, hemp protein powder, hemp nuts and more!  After I try the shake, I will post an update and share my feedback.  Check back soon!

You are very welcome, Ani! I actually had already checked out your book the other day on Amazon and plan on placing a pre-order. I don’t know if you noticed, but I also placed the link to your YouTube video channel entitled, “Amy Phyo’s Raw Food Kitchen Videos” on my site under its own category, “Raw Foods”. I look forward to posting something on Durian once your video is posted. Congratulations on your success. Keep up the great work on spreading health!
