A chiropractor recently brought my attention to the fact that most almond milks are loaded with sugar. Sure enough, I looked at the label on the almond milk that I buy at Trader Joe’s and the second ingredient listed is evaporated cane juice! In this post you will find a link to a video which includes the recipe for an almond milk substitute. It is very easy to make and there is no cooking involved!

While watching one of Ani Phyo’s Raw Food Kitchen videos I learned how to make a very easy raw (uncooked) almond milk substitute. She calls it “mylk”. I already have tons of organic raw almonds. Now I just have to soak them. I am also awaiting my delivery of my organic Mejool Dates. She adds the bark from vanilla beans, water and a pinch of sea salt. Can’t wait! Between the hemp protein powder and this almond milk substitute I will be all set!
Ani also shares a great recipe for a raw cereal, but my plan is to use her suggestion on her other video using this almond milk substitute in a hemp protein shake with organic fruit. I know my favorite will be adding some organic unsweetened cacao powder. Yum!
I am also looking forward to using this almond milk substitute in my ice cream recipes!

I think so, too, Cindy. Ani’s just brilliant! I can’t wait for her new book to come out in April. I bet this would make a great banana nut ice cream, too!
