Bread Machine with Gluten-free, Low Carb, 100-Percent Whole Wheat, Super-rapid, Settings

Having trouble with your bread machine?  I wasn’t in the market for a new bread machine, but this machine is very tempting!  When baking whole bread with high amounts of wheat; as well as baking gluten-free, low carb and other breads lacking all-purpose flour, you may be running into trouble.  Some just don’t rise; some come out heavy as a brick, etc.

The Breadman TR875 2-Pound Breadmaker has a gluten-free setting, low carb setting, 100% whole wheat setting and a super-rapid setting.  the Breadman TR875 2-Pound Breadmaker has an average review of 4 stars on Amazon but that is out of 417 reviews.  Not bad at all!    Read the rest of this entry »

Digital Nutritional Scales

Because I am working on my nutrition and weight loss, I recently purchased a DigiWeigh Dgital Nutritional Scale on eBay.  I just received it and I am loving it!  Nutritional scales are food scales and nutritional scales in one.  Now I can weigh each food item and the scale counts the total carbohydrates, calories, cholesterol, fat, sodium, protein and fiber for me.  It even stores the amounts in memory so that I may track my total daily values.  I believe I got a really good deal, too!

The scale that I purchased has a few features that I really wanted:

1. I just press the memory button and it will save my totals for that day.  The next morning all I have to do is clear out the memory.

2.  It has 999 foods already memorized.

3.  The top is made from tempered glass.  Stainless and glass tops are usually recommended.  This is best for not collecting any bacteria from foods.  With the glass I feel even better that because my food is not in contact with any metals.  Read the rest of this entry »

Breadman Ultimate Bread Machine Review

I thought I would share my review on the Breadman Ultimate TR-2200C.  I absolutely love it!  This model comes in white.  Compared to our previous bread machine, the Breadman Ultimate TR-2200C delivers a 2 lb. loaf versus the smaller loaves we have made in the past.  The features and options are plentiful.  Check out the manual.  There is also the Breadman Chrome Ultimate Breadmaker, TR2500BC  model which is just a different color.  Their manual is just incredible.  It not only teaches you about the machine, but about ingredients, measuring, dough consistency and more, as well as provides you with recipes.  The machine also comes with a great instructional video. Low sodium seasoned bread recipe for bread machine

Okay, gals…break out that bread machine!

I have a great recipe for a homemade bread that is not only delicious, but it includes no salt.

Let’s face it, we eat too much sodium as it is, and if you have high blood pressure or water retention, this will enhance your health.

LOW SODIUM SEASONED BREAD

2 LB. LOAF (Cut in half if you only have a 1 lb. bread machine.)

Low Sodium Bread

Low Sodium Seasoned Bread

1+ c   Warm Water
3 T     Olive Oil
2 t      Carla’s special seasoning (see recipe below)
3 c     Bread flour or (combination of all purpose flour and 3 tbsp. gluten flour = 3 c.)
1 ½ t  Yeast

Cook on white cycle – 3 hours; use light or medium crust setting; or if your machine does not have those options follow the manufacture’s instructions for white bread.

Carla’s Special Seasoning Recipe

In a container add one teaspoon each of the following ingredients:

Garlic, onion, parsley, basil, bay, marjoram, oregano, savory, thyme, cayenne pepper, cumin, mustard, rosemary, celery seed, red pepper, paprika (or whatever you have on hand that is appealing to you.)

Add ½ teaspoon: white pepper (or black pepper if that is all you have on hand).

Grind in food processor.  Use 2 tsp. as stated above and save rest for future recipes.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.  My guests rave about it!

If you get hooked on making your own bread it would be beneficial to pick up a slicer.  My recommendation is purchase one that will slice more than just bread.  I don’t care for the bread slicers that are made of wood where you slice by hand, but I love my electric slicer that I can use for meat, as well.  You can take a chicken breast and make your own cold cuts, without all of that sodium and preservatives.  A couple of years ago I picked up one, that folds up for easy storage, on eBay for around $40.00 plus shipping.  They have the same exact one online made by CucinaPro here  for $59.99.

I absolutely love my new Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker!  I have been using it for the last 2 or 3 months very successfully.  Most of my favorite recipes are right in the recipe book included with the machine.  Read the rest of this entry »
