Let’s face it, most of us have body odor, but how can we prevent body odor unless we know the source of it. I subscribe to Dr. Pepi’s newsletter and below I list her tips on body odor:
Here are some possibilities:
- Odor from the overall body can indicate toxicity, such as with heavy metals or drugs or an imbalanced diet. I have seen a heavy metal detox and a drug detox handle many cases of body odor altogether.
- Odors that come from the mouth can be a signal that there is infection in the mouth or digestive problems in the gut.
- Odors from the gut, such as with gas, can be a sign that something is rotting in the digestive tract. In other words, there may be some types of food such as fats, carb-ohydrates or proteins that are not breaking down correctly. This is crucial to get handled as your body needs that fuel in a broken-down form to create energy! There can also be intestinal parasites, viruses, bacteria or fungus. Read the rest of this entry »

Yacon syrup is a natural sweetener pressed from the root of a yacon, a plant which grows in the Andes Mountains. Yucon syrup is known as a sugar substitute because of the lack of glucose, which is great for those who have diabetes or are borderline diabetics. Yacons look similar to sweet potatoes. The syrup is sometimes compared to brown rice syrup or agave syrup, but thicker. People refer to the taste of yacon syrup as being similar to molasses, caramel, apple and apple and caramel. One manufacture of dried yacon slices refers to the fruit being between an apple and a watermelon.

April 8, 2010 · Filed under Health · Tagged Does Xylitol work, Is xylitol healthy, Xylitol, Xylitol teeth
My chiropractor now sells toothpaste that contains xylitol. I’ve had the question in mind, “Does Xylitol work and is xylitol healthy?” Xylitol is a natural sugar substitute that was being researched while the unhealthier sugar substitutes were approved for marketing in the U.S. Xylitol not only helps prevent tooth decay, but can reverse many dental issues. I know of one person who stated it reversed her tooth problem completely. My Chiropractor also mentioned that to avoid side effects with xylitol one needs to introduce a little bit at a time into your diet. I asked him if it had the same side effects as maltitol (often found in low carb chocolate bars), you know, gas, bloating and diarrhea. He answered yes, but added that with malitol your body will never get used to it. Read the rest of this entry »
April 5, 2010 · Filed under Dr. Oz, Health, Weight Loss · Tagged Dr. Oz Diets Genes
I watched the Dr. Oz show today, Monday, April 5, 2010. He had a doctor, David Katz, on his show who discussed how our genes play a roll in how we lose weight. Dr. Katz stated that all diets worked about the same, per a study, but that calories were the bottom line.
There is now a gene test which determines which diet is best for you based upon your genes. Dr. Ken Korman, the founder of the company that performs the test, explained how the test works. The test involves brushing the inside of your mouth; you let it dry; and place it in a little paper envelope which you mail into the laboratory. The cost of the test is $149.
But wait, for those who may not be able to afford the test Dr. Oz provided some great information. Read the rest of this entry »

On the March 25, 2010 episode of the Rachael Ray show they discussed the problem of people keeping their makeup too long and the dangers it may cause. The question we all want to know is how long can you keep makeup?
Makeup has a shelf life. The active ingredients break down after time. Because our beauty products come in contact with our skin bacteria they become a reservoir for bacteria and cause all sorts of problems. When the skin becomes contaminated by these products it can cause eye infections, skin infections, exacerbation of acne, cold sores, and even Herpes Simplex. Read the rest of this entry »

I had to share these tips on molds in foods from Dr. Pepi. She explains which foods contain less mold, which foods contain more mold and how to prevent mold from growing in food. Who knew what she explains below? A definite must read!

Molds are fungi found everywhere in nature. Molds attack living things and break them down. Over time, this action degrades dead things so that there is more room for new living forms. Read the rest of this entry »

I just watched a segment on the March 22, 2010 episode of The Dr. Oz Show on BPA and our water supply. It has been found that some chemical compounds found in everyday household items can cause serious damage to our health, possibly irreversible. These chemicals, “endocrine disruptors” mimic hormones that our bodies make. Low levels that were once thought tolerable are now found harmful to our health. These chemicals can increase our risk for cancer. Fish, frogs and other life forms discovered around the U.S had both male and female organs.

March 17, 2010 · Filed under Dr. Oz, Health · Tagged Diarrhea, Dr. Oz, Intestinal Tract
In a recent episode of the Dr. Oz Show they discussed the intestinal track and foods to eat or avoid while ill.
In an illustration on the intestinal tract Dr. Oz explained that in the lining of the intestinal track there are little hairs (villi). Sometimes a different type of bacteria lie on top of the villi and release toxins, water, fluid, that is excreted and make your bowels really watery. Other times there are other bacteria that release chemicals that cause the intestinal tract through the immune system to die off. Then all of the food goes through the intestinal tract and the nutrients do not get absorbed and cause water to stay in the bowels and cause constipation. If you are under stress, the stress may cause the intestinal tract to squeeze too quickly and causes you to go to the bathroom all of a sudden. With constipation the bowel is holding onto too much water. Read the rest of this entry »

Among Dr. Oz’ suggested alternative remedies for fibroid were a few natural supplements: Read the rest of this entry »
